Laminar and turbulent cavity wind flow: M. Immer

In the PhD of M. Immer the influence of turbulent inflow conditions on the cavity flow was measured using time-resolved PIV. The set-up consisted of a split-floor setup and turbulence generating spires and barriers.  It was found that for low turbulent cases vortices are produced due to Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities, while for high turbulent cases intermittent large sweep events penetrate into cavity
